Sonia Mahajan is a gender bias researcher with experience in both qualitative and quantitative analysis. Currently, she is the Project Management & Research Lead at Lean In, where she works on the annual Women in the Workplace Report, co-published by Lean In and McKinsey & Company. She was the youngest author of the 2021 Women in the Workplace Report.

Sonia graduated Summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Columbia University, where she earned a B.A. in Political Science and a Special Concentration in Sustainable Development. While at Columbia, she was Editor-in-Chief of the Undergraduate Law Review and lead an undergraduate consulting team that worked with the Westchester County government to inform the expansion of their community garden initiative. Prior to attending Columbia, she displayed research at the American Geophysical Union’s 2015 conference through an internship with Stanford Earth.

In her free time, Sonia enjoys writing fiction, reading mystery novels, growing peppers, and visiting various bookstores.
